What is this lesson?
Rainbow colors are splashed onto basic geometric shapes in this lesson! Squares and circles, red and purple. A simple animated style makes these shapes and colors easy to recognize and remember.
This is a fun lesson, and it's easy to teach, too. Shapes come in different colors, and colors come in different shapes. Kids will be able to use what they learn in this lesson, specifically the colors, in many lessons after this. Red car, blue car. This is a lesson to visit and revisit until you know it without thinking!

How do I teach this lesson?
This lesson is incredibly simple, and there are lots of ways you can teach it. Flashcards are always important. Also, BINGO is a perfect fit for teaching colors and shapes. We offer BINGO downloads for free for you to use. We have developed an unique game that uses a BINGO sheet with different rules, called a BINGO board game. A whole variety of games work well with this lesson.
You can also teach using different colored or different shaped objects. Many educational vendors carry sets of color/shape card decks that are ideal for playing games like Match Up and Go Fish. Otherwise, you can print out doubles of our free flashcard downloads and do the same thing.
This lesson already introduces the sentences "What color is it?" and "What shape is it?" You can use these questions to check how much students know and remember.
Extra Material:
The following sentences should also be taught with this lesson–
What is this?
Is this a circle? Is this an orange star?
Where is the square? Where is the blue triangle?
