What is this lesson?
Is he a doctor? A firefighter? A policeman? In this lesson, LEGO block people are animated as they do their jobs in a LEGO universe. The LEGO people run into all sorts of funny situations in this simple video. This lesson introduces sentences about different people doing different jobs– sentences that describe people in everyday life.

How do I teach this lesson?
This lesson introduces ten different occupations. The lesson also uses three different sentence patterns: 1. Are you a _____? 2. Is he/she a _____? 3. He/she is a _____? Because of this, different occupations can be put interchangeably in each of the sentence patterns. The DVD introduces each occupation in only one sentence pattern, but this lesson has the potential to become nearly thirty sentences.
Start by teaching the individual occupations with their corresponding sentences. Then go on to teach the interchangeable sentences. For each flashcard, ask, "Who am I?", "Who is he/she?", or "Who are you?"
Flashcards work well to teach this lesson, and if you print out two copies of each flashcards you can play Go Fish, Reverse Go Fish, and Match Up games to teach this lesson.
Extra Material:
There is a separate set of occupational flashcards available from KidsWow Englishpro for those who want to purchase extra teacher's resources. This set of flashcards covers over 30 common working situations. Contact us to find out more.
