What is this lesson?
Meet Kristi's family. Kristi's family is getting their picture taken, and you will get to meet her brothers and sisters, her grandparents– her whole family! Meeting Kristi's family can help you learn how to tell other people about your family.
This lesson is told as a story. Kristi's family from Japan have gone to see her extended family (her grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle, and cousins) in America. This lesson introduces family members, who they are and whether they are younger or older.

How do I teach this lesson?
The most important part of this lesson is the names of family members. Brother, sister. Mom, dad. A good way to teach this lesson is to use pictures of a family, and point to each family member asking, "Who is this?" The students respond by saying who family members are. Make sure that students know what the family relationship is, especially if you are using pictures of your own family!
